Haystack News has inked a partnership with German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) that will boost international news content on the free, ad-supported streaming news aggregator, the companies announced on Thursday.

As part of the licensing deal, Haystack News will offer its users free access to the English language feed of DW along with news clips from various DW programs, including its flagship news broadcast “Journal” and current affairs program “The Day.”

“International news providers, including DW, are a valuable addition to the diversity of voices and quality news coverage offered on our premier platform,” Daniel Baretto, the chief executive and co-founder of Haystack News’ parent company Haystack TV, said in a statement. “With interest from both streaming customers outside of the U.S., as well as domestic users looking for news content from around the world, Haystack is continuing to grow its content pipeline while establishing itself as the leading streaming news platform.”

DW joins a growing lineup of international news providers who are licensing their live feeds and on-demand content to Haystack News. Other international networks whose content appears on the streamer include Al Jazeera English, Euronews, Canada’s CBC News, France 24 and Altice’s i24 News.

That content is interspersed with local news clips and national clips and feeds from ABC News, the Associated Press, CBS News, Fox Television Stations, Cox Media Group, Hearst Television, Scripps and others.

For years, DW content has been available to international viewers through its own website as well as on video sharing websites YouTube and DailyMotion. But having it integrated with Haystack News will help information-hungry streamers find it and other news content in one central spot, a fact that was not lost on executives at the international channel.

“DW has long been renowned for its award-winning journalism and we are always searching for innovative partners like Haystack News service to help us reach new audiences,” Benjamin Schnabel, the head of digital partnerships at Deutsche Welle, said in a statement. “With the addition of both our live DW streaming channel and on-demand news content, Haystack News users now have multiple ways to enjoy DW content.”

Haystack News is available as a free download across a wide variety of platforms and devices, including most streaming TV hardware (Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV/Google TV), phones, tablets and natively on smart TVs manufactured by Sony, TCL, Samsung, LG, Hisense and Vizio.

Haystack News can also be accessed through its website, haystack.tv.
