DirecTV moves channels into cheaper package

DirecTV Stream said on Thursday it would relocate several channels from one of its more-expensive packages into its base offering.

The channels, TV One and Cleo TV, will move from the $90 a month Choice package to the $70 a month Entertainment package, the streaming service said.

The move takes effect on Tuesday, a DirecTV Stream spokesperson said. Both channels are owned by Urban One, Inc

Next week, DirecTV Stream will begin offering the Comcast-owned Golf Channel in its Choice package, while other subscribers will get access to the Fox News Media-operated Fox Weather. Fox Nation, which is also owned by Fox News Media, will be available as a $6 a month add on, the company said.

As part of the programming shift, DirecTV Stream said it will stop offering the One America News Network and A Wealth of Entertainment (AWE) starting April 4. Both channels are owned and programmed by Herring Networks, Inc.

DirecTV Stream is jointly owned by AT&T and TPG Capital.
