Apple to raise price of Apple Music, Apple TV Plus subscriptions

Apple says it is increasing the price of several subscription products, including its Apple Music and Apple TV Plus streaming services.

On Monday, the California tech company affirmed the price of Apple Music would increase by $1 to $11 a month, a move the company said was intended to help offset rising licensing costs associated with the music in its portfolio. The price of Apple Music’s family plan will increase by $2 to $17 a month.

The increased subscription price will help artists earn more money from each track that is streamed through Apple Music, a spokesperson for the company confirmed.

Additionally, Apple says the cost of an Apple TV Plus subscription will increase from $5 a month to $7 a month. A spokesperson said the price was initially low because the service had “just a few shows and movies,” but the catalog has grown over the last three years, so a price increase was necessary.

Here’s the full breakdown of Apple’s new subscription prices:

  • Apple Music (one user): $11 a month (up from $10 a month)
  • Apple Music (family plan): $17 a month (up from $15 a month)
  • Apple Music (one user, annual): $110 per year (up from $100 per year)
  • Apple TV Plus (one user): $7 per month (up from $5 per month)
  • Apple TV Plus (one user, annual): $70 per year (up from $50 per year)
  • Apple One (individual): $17 per month (up from $15 per month)
  • Apple One (family plan): $23 per month (up from $20 per month)
  • Apple One (premier plan): $33 per month (up from $30 per month)

The Apple services price increase begins immediately for new customers, and rolls out to current customers on each service’s renewal date.

Apple One includes access to Apple Music, Apple Arcade (games), Apple TV Plus and Apple’s cloud storage service iCloud (50GBs plan). The Apple One family plan offers the same apps as the individual plan, but allows five people to access the subscriptions and bumps the cloud storage space up to 200GBs. The premier plan is the same as Apple One family, but includes Apple News Plus, Apple Fitness and bumps the iCloud storage space to 2TBs.
