Philo is already one of the cheapest ways to watch general entertainment, lifestyle and knowledge channels without an expensive cable TV or satellite package — and, at least for the next week or so, it’ll be even cheaper for new and returning customers.

As part of the streaming service’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales event, new and returning Philo subscribers get 80 percent off for the first month of service, bringing the cost of the $25 a month base plan to just $5 (plus taxes and fees in some areas). Simply sign up for Philo service using this link and type in the code word “THANKS” at check-out to get the discount.

We’ve written before about how Philo is the CHEAPST way to watch cable television’s two biggest shows: “The Walking Dead” (on AMC) and “Yellowstone” (on Paramount Network). The service typically costs $25 a month for a base package of over 60 live cable channels from its programming partners, including Paramount Global (Comedy Central, Paramount Network, MTV, Nickelodeon, TV Land), AMC Networks (AMC, IFC, BBC America, BBC World Service. We TV), A+E Networks (A&E, History Channel, TLC, Vice), the Discovery side of Warner Bros Discovery (Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, HGTV, Travel Channel), Bloomberg, Revry, Cheddar News and more. Philo recently expanded its channel line-up to include several Weigel-owned networks (Me TV, Story Television, Decades, Heroes & Icons), without raising the price of their subscription on users.

Philo offers more than 50,000 movies and television episodes on-demand, and offers a generous, one-year cloud DVR feature for recording shows and movies from live television. Starz , Epix (soon to be renamed MGM Plus) and a “Movies & More” package are available for separate, add-on fees and work with Philo’s on-demand and cloud DVR feature.

While some streaming cable TV alternatives charge extra for simultaneous streams, Philo doesn’t: The service allows for up to 10 unique user profiles, each with their own cloud DVR feature and favorite channels list, and allows content to be live streamed from three devices at once.

Philo is available on a wide variety of streaming TV platforms, including Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV (Google TV) and newer-model Samsung Tizen smart TV sets. Apps are also available for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets, and all content can be accessed via Philo’s website via desktop and laptop computers.

To get 80 percent off your first month of Philo, click or tap here and enter the code “THANKS” at check-out. The sale ends November 30.
