Executives at the multiplex cable movie network Epix have unveiled a slate of new and returning programming as the channel prepares for its relaunch under the MGM Plus branding.

“It’s a new beginning for our service, as we introduce MGM Plus and its distinctive brand promise to viewers on January 15,” Michael Wright, the head of MGM Plus, said in a statement on Tuesday. “MGM Plus will deliver on its iconic and beloved studio legacy, with cinematic, sophisticated, and transportive storytelling that audiences love. We are growing our rich library of content, comprised of original television series and blockbuster films that celebrate the MGM Plus brand.”

The relaunch on January 15 will coincide with the premiere of the third season of Epix’s original series, “Godfather of Harlem.” Other Epix shows that have been renewed for MGM Plus include the second seasons of “Rogue Heroes” and “Billy the Kid.”

MGM Plus will also see the debut of a limited series called “A Spy Among Friends,” which will start airing in March, as well as a new true-crime documentary series in February called “Murf the Surf.”

The programs will join several others that have already been announced, including crime thriller “Hotel Cocaine” and a two-part documentary called “San Francisco Sounds” focused on the Bay Area music scene.

Other programs commissioned by MGM Plus include:

  • “The Emperor of Ocean Park”
  • “Hoodlum”
  • “Earth Abides”
  • “American Classic”
  • “Ark”
  • “Hollywood Black” (documentary)
  • “Hot Stuff” (documentary series)
  • “The Devil Within” (documentary series)
  • “Wonderland Murders & the Secret History of Hollywood” (documentary series)

Like Epix, MGM Plus will be available via cable and satellite proviers like Comcast’s Xfinity, DirecTV, Dish Network and others. It will also be available as a subscription add-on through streaming services like Philo, Sling TV and YouTube TV, as well as a standalone subscription through the MGM Plus app.

Epix and MGM Plus are brands and services owned by Amazon.
