The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has promoted Alex Siciliano to the role of senior vice president of communications for the trade organization.

Siciliano worked as a communications officer and spokesperson for the NAB prior to the promotion. In his new role, he will lead a press team that includes Zamir Ahmed, the NAB’s vice president of communications, and social media manager Grace Whaley.

“NAB has a strong team leading our press outreach, focused on communicating the value that America’s broadcasters bring to every local community,” Curtis LeGeyt, the CEO of NAB, said in a statement. “Alex brings valuable experience in government and politics to this leadership role, effectively communicating how policy issues impacting broadcasters can affect the service local radio and TV stations provide. Broadcasters are well served by Alex and this team of veteran communicators.”

Siciliano previously worked in policy and communications roles with various U.S. House and Senate lawmakers, including a stint as Senator Cory Gardner’s deputy chief of staff. He also worked on political campaigns for the White House, the NAB said.

The NAB communications team is part of the organization’s public affairs department, which is overseen by NAB Chief of Staff and Executive Vice President Michelle Lehman.

NAB advocates on behalf of domestic television and radio broadcasters, offering advocacy and insight on legislative, regulatory and public affairs between its members and key stakeholders in government.

The organization is celebrating its 100th anniversary in April, which will coincide with the next installment of the flagship NAB Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This week, NAB officials said its NAB Show will offer more than 1,000 exhibitors, including 140 companies and organizations who will showcase their goods, services and technology at a NAB Show for the first time.
