DirecTV has reached a distribution agreement with the environment-focused documentary channel EarthxTV, the companies announced in a joint press release last week.

The channel was added to DirecTV’s satellite and streaming TV platforms the same week as Earth Day, which is scheduled to occur on April 22.

“EarthxTV is a great addition to bring to our DirecTV entertainment lineup this week leading up to Earth Day, and we look forward to offering the service for years to come,” DirecTV chief content officer Rob Thun said in a statement. “We’re proud to engage with organizations that help benefit our environment and offer support to their grassroots efforts in the communities where our employees live and work.”

EarthxTV launched last year with the mission to entertain and inform viewers on a variety of topics, including sustainability initiatives, biodiversity and climate challenges. The channel is available throughout the United States on Chater’s Spectrum TV and some smaller cable outlets, as well as in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Mexico and parts of Latin America.

Programming on EarthxTV includes “Reverend Gadget’s Garage,” which spotlights the transformation of classic cars into electric vehicles, and “The Killer Bee Catcher” with Lance Davis. A new show called “Kill Your Lawn” is set to debut on Earth Day.

“Our mission is to offer entertaining programming that turns a lens on the individuals and organizations working to make a difference in the world and inspire viewers to become positive environmental stewards starting in their own backyard,” Rajan Singh, the head of distribution for EarthxTV, said in a statement. “Working with DirecTV accelerates our ability to deliver programming that not only highlights the issues facing us, but also accentuates the beauty of this planet we all share.”

DirecTV satellite and streaming customers can find EarthxTV on Channel 267, available in the base Entertainment package and above. The channel is also available to those with AT&T U-Verse on Channel 1267.
