Streaming content distributor FilmRise has acquired the domestic rights to more than 480 episodes of British television shows from BBC Studios.
The shows acquired by FilmRise include sci-fi series “Primeval,” time-travel show “Being Erica,” five seasons of “Ripper Street” and 23 seasons of crime drama “Silent Witness.”
“BBC Studios is behind some of the best programming in the world and we’re excited to bring this content to the FilmRise Streaming Network and grow our audience through international programming,” Max Einhorn, the senior vice president of acquisitions and co-productions at FilmRise, said in a statement.
FilmRise is one of the largest distributors of acquired and licensed content in the United States, offering TV shows and movies to Amazon’s Prime Video, Paramount Global’s Pluto TV, Xumo Play, Samsung TV Pluz, Vizio WatchFree Plus, the Roku Channel, Vudu, Fox Corporation’s Tubi and Comcast’s Peacock, among others.
Prior to the agreement announced today, FilmRise already had a number of British series in its content library, including the fan-favorite “Peep Show,” “Shameless,” “Midsomer Murders” and “Doc Martin.” It also distributes reality-based shows “Unsolved Mysteries,” “Forensic Files,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Iron Chef” and “Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares.”
