Streaming audio company LiveOne has launched a new free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel for its PodcastOne platform and associated shows.
The channel, PodcastOne TV will offer video content from a number of PodcastOne’s on-demand shows, including “The Adam Carolla Podcast,” “Nappy Boy Radio with T-Pain,” “Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe” and “LiveZone News,” with other programs slated to launch in the future.
PodcastOne TV is produced in partnership with MuxIP, which provides streaming-focused video solutions for content producers and distributors. The channel will leverage MuxIP’s FASTHub for OTT platform, which will allow PodcastOne TV to extend its reach to Paramount Global’s Pluto TV, the Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels and Fox Corporation’s Tubi.
“With so many of our popular podcasts generating great video content, it made sense for us to launch a FAST channel to give the podcast fans even more access to our award-winning podcasters,” Kit Gray, the president of PodcastOne, said in a statement. “With the FAST channel market growing so rapidly, we saw this as the perfect opportunity to expand our distribution network.”
The launch of PodcastOne TV is an attempt by LiveOne to tap into the $10 billion connected TV economy, with advertisers increasingly shifting their marketing spend from traditional broadcast and cable television toward streaming solutions.
“We have seen the podcast market accelerate in recent years, but its opportunity to supercharge channel adoption through FAST is something that we think PodcastOne can leverage to the hilt,” Tom Link, the founder and CEO of MuxIP, said on Tuesday. “The range of content, and the audiences that [PodcastOne] commands, are ideally suited for FAST. Our FASTHub platform was made for this kind of business expansion.”
At launch, PodcastOne TV will be available as a free streaming television channel via the PodcastOne website. LiveOne is expected to spin off PodcastOne into a separate company by the end of the year.
