CBS will start airing Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone” in September

Paramount Global’s broadcast network CBS will begin airing re-runs of the hit Paramount Network series “Yellowstone” this September, the company announced on Monday.

It marks the first time Paramount has offered Yellowstone on a broadcast network in the United States, and comes amid a pair of strikes involving Hollywood actors and writers that has ground television production to a halt.

Officials at CBS and Paramount didn’t blame the ongoing strikes for the decision to move its hit cable television series to broadcast, but the announcement released on Monday strongly suggests that the two are related.

In addition to Yellowstone, CBS will import the British version of “Ghosts,” which aired on the BBC in the United Kingdom four years ago. A spin-off of the series has aired on CBS since 2021.

The network will also tap into the content library of its premium streaming service Paramount Plus, bringing shows like “FBI True” and “Seal Team” to broadcast television later this year.

Just four series — “Young Sheldon,” “Ghosts,” “NCIS” and “FBI” — will return this fall, with CBS re-running episodes of its former hit crime thriller “Blue Bloods” late Friday evenings. (The show will be called “Blue Bloods Classics.”)

Reality shows will also factor into CBS’ new fall line-up, with “The Amazing Race” and “Survivor” returning for new seasons. Upon their debut, “Big Brother” will shift to Tuesday evenings, the network said.
