AMC Networks has promoted one of its top programming executives to a newly-created vice president role.
Sam Rowden is now the vice president of AMC Networks International’s content group for the United Kingdom and Norther Ireland, overseeing the company’s overall content strategy for the region.
Rowden previously served as a programming executive in charge of executing strategy for six linear channels in the United Kingdom and Central Europe that are jointly owned with Paramount Global.
In the new role, Rowden will lead the recently-formed content group at AMC Networks International, with a specific focus on the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East and Norht Africa. She will continue to oversee the development of the six jointly-owned channels, while also adding oversight of other AMC Networks channels in the region, the company said.
Rowden will also help execute on various strategies to develop and launch free, ad-supported streaming channels and video on-demand services, to include the acquisition of content for those streams and services.

Our aim is to create a content offering, which is strong, relevant and well-placed to co-exist in both the linear and streaming space.”
Rowden has worked with AMC Networks since 2007. She previously worked for the BBC and Thames Television’s UKTV and for British Sky Broadcasting’s now-defunct general entertainment channel Sky One.
