Around 7.3 million British TV households tuned in to watch England take on Australia during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament this week, the BBC reported on Thursday.
The figure was directly attributed to linear viewing on BBC One, the nation’s flagship, publicly-owned television network.
England defeated Australia 3-1 to advance to the Women’s World Cup Final. Post-match coverage and highlights were streamed 2.7 million times on BBC iPlayer and other digital platforms, the broadcasters said.
The final match between England and Spain will air August 20 on BBC One, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sound.
