Allen Media Group’s free streaming television service Local Now has added a new channel programmed by TIME Magazine.
The launch of the TIME stream on Local Now comes more than a month after the channel debuted on Amazon’s free streaming television service, Freevee.
“TIME is thrilled to partner with Local Now to distribute our FAST channel,” Jeff Li, the general manager of TIME Digital, said in a statement, using the acronym for free, ad-supported streaming television.
Li continued: “Local Now’s strong focus on news provides TIME’s trusted journalism an excellent platform to reach viewers who want to understand the people, events, and issues that impact the world.”
The TIME streaming channel offers a slate of original programming, some of which was previously available on the TIME YouTube channel. Those shows include “TIME Reports,” “TIME for Health and Science” and “TIME Documentaries and Film.”
“We are excited to add the TIME FAST channel to Local Now’s growing line-up of national news and entertainment channels,” Byron Allen, the founder and CEO of Allen Media, said on Tuesday. “TIME is a phenomenal brand and a great addition to Local Now.”
Local Now is available as a free download across all popular streaming television platforms, as well as smartphones and tablets. The service offers a mixture of local and national news along with hundreds of general entertainment, lifestyle and knowledge channels.
