Haystack News has signed a distribution agreement with Televisa-Univision to offer streaming news content from Noticias Univision, the company announced on Monday.

The partnership is the first with a Spanish-language content provider to offer news through the app in a language other than English. Executives at Haystack News say more Spanish-langauge content is expected to be added next year.

“The addition of Univision’s Spanish-language content on our platform is just another way we’re helping our viewers watch the news that matters to them,” Daniel Barretto, the CEO of Haystack News, said in a statement. “Our Hispanic viewers now have a place to watch high-quality news about their communities from world-class journalists in their own voice. We’re thrilled to launch this new era for Haystack News with Televisa-Univision, the global leader in Spanish-language content.”

Haystack News counts more than 20 million streamers who regularly view live and on-demand news content through its smart television, tablet and phone apps. The app is free, and offers personalized news content to those who sign up for an account through the Haystack News app.

“Serving the Hispanic audience with news that matters is of utmost importance, and we’re thrilled to extend the reach of our leading ViX channel, Noticias Univision 24/7, to Haystack News as the first Spanish-language news source on the platform,” Hamed Nasseri, the vice president of global streaming business development at Televisa-Univision, said on Monday.

In addition to live news from Univision, Haystack News offers feeds from CBS News, Deutsche Welle (DW), Euronews, Al Jazeera English and Yahoo Finance, among others.
