SiriusXM has renewed its agreement with Major League Baseball (MLB) that will allow the satellite and streaming audio service to continue offering live play-by-play of MLB games through 2028.

The agreement coverage pre-season, regular season, post-season and World Series games, and extends a deal that has been in place between SiriusXM and MLB since 2005, when the service was known as XM Satellite Radio.

All MLB games will be available to SiriusXM subscribers with satellite radio tuners in their cars, though streaming radio users will have access to an expanded line-up of play-by-play coverage from the home and away team broadcasters for every single game. Typically, satellite radio coverage is reserved for national and home team broadcasts due to bandwidth limitations.

“We’re very proud to continue Baseball’s rich history of reaching fans through their radios,” Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s chief content officer, said in a statement. “Today, we’re delivering those fans the sounds of the game through SiriusXM’s state-of-the-art platforms in the car and on the SiriusXM app. Being able to hear their team’s announcers is important to fans, and no matter where you are listening from across North America, you’ll get access to every team’s broadcast for every game on SiriusXM.”

The agreement complements a dedicated radio channel on SiriusXM satellite and streaming specifically for MLB. The channel, called MLB Radio Network, is available to subscribers of most popular SiriusXM satellite and streaming radio plans.

“The collection of MLB game presentations and content that has developed through our extended relationship with SiriusXM has been a powerful asset in making our game more accessible to fans wherever they are,” Kenny Gersh, the executive vice president of media and business development at MLB, said in a statement. “The sounds of Baseball are an important part of our story, and we’re proud to continue to work with SiriusXM as they advance and grow the MLB streaming experience for fans on their platforms.”

The agreement comes just a few weeks before SiriusXM relaunches its streaming radio app, which the company promises will offer personalized content recommendations tailored to each listener. The new SiriusXM streaming app debuts on December 14.

In addition to SiriusXM’s satellite and streaming radio services, SiriusXM also owns streaming music platform Pandora and the podcast powerhouse Stitcher.
