Nexstar Media Group’s cable news channel NewsNation will debut a new weekday schedule and expand its morning show to the weekends later this month.
Starting January 22, NewsNation will shorten its breakfast program “Morning in America” to three hours — it currently runs four hours — and its main presenter, Adrienne Bankert, will become a special projects anchor at the network.
Markie Martin will become Morning in America’s solo anchor during the weekdays, with the program keeping its 6 a.m. Eastern Time (3 a.m. Pacific Time) start, the network said in a statement.
NewsNation will offer live news coverage from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time, with its early prime-time show “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” moving to the 5 p.m. Eastern Time slot. “The Hill on NewsNation,” a daily political program, will move to 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
The new weekday schedule follows below (all times Eastern):
- 6 a.m.: Morning in America with Markie Martin
- 9 a.m.: NewsNation Live with Marni Hughes
- 12 p.m.: NewsNation Now with Nichole Berlie
- 3 p.m.: NewsNation Now with Connell McShane
- 5 p.m.: Elizabeth Vargas Reports
- 6 p.m.: The Hill on NewSNation
- 7 p.m.: On Balance with Leland Vittert
- 8 p.m.: Cuomo (host Chris Cuomo)
- 9 p.m.: Dan Abrams Live
- 10 p.m.: Banfield (host Ashleigh Banfield)
In addition to its new weekday schedule, NewsNation will begin airing a version of its flagship morning news program on the weekends, starting January 27.
The weekend version of Morning in America will be hosted by former Cheddar News journalist Hena Doba, the network said. Dee Dee Thomas, a former news executive at Cheddar, will serve as the executive producer of the weekend morning show, the network said.
“We are excited to debut our new weekend morning show along with an enhanced daytime lineup to fill out our 24-hour, 7 day-a-week schedule in 2024,” Michael Corn, the President of NewsNation, said in a statement. “This programming is another big milestone for the network as we continue to build a best-in-class news organization.”
NewsNation is available on cable, satellite and cable-like streaming services across the country, including Comcast (Xfinity TV), Charter (Spectrum TV), Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV, Fubo, DirecTV Stream and YouTube TV.
