Sunday morning is made for politics, and Nexstar Media Group’s NewsNation wants in on the action.

Starting in March, NewsNation will produce and air a new Sunday morning political talk show, hosted by the channels’ political editor Chris Stirewalt.

The show will “feature a variety of politicians and newsmakers discussing the latest political news from the nation’s capital,” as well as a panel of “guest commentators offering insight and analysis of the week’s key stories,” according to a press release issued on Thursday.

As described, the show appears to resemble similar fare on the major broadcast and cable channels — NBC’s “Meet the Press,” ABC’s “This Week,” CBS’ “Face the Nation,” “Fox News Sunday” and CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“We are delighted that Chris will be joining the new weekend lineup,” Michael Corn, the President of News at NewsNation, said in a statement.  “He is a legendary figure in Washington and one of the most respected, intelligent, and well-sourced journalists covering U.S. politics.”

“I am proud to be part of NewsNation, where the promise of fair, honest, independent coverage has real meaning,” Stirewalt said. “Our industry has a nearly 80-year history of devoting time on Sunday mornings to programming that, in its best form, helps Americans to be better citizens by better understanding their government, the issues we face and their choices as voters.  It is a privilege to get to make whatever small contribution I can to that tradition.”

“The Hill Sunday” begins March 3 and will air in the 10 a.m. Eastern Time (7 a.m. Pacific Time) slot.

It is the second weekend programming announcement made by NewsNation in recent weeks. Earlier this month, NewsNation said it will debut a weekend edition of its flagship AM news program “Morning in America,” which will start airing on January 27.
