It’s not just you — LinkedIn is down.
The Microsoft-owned social media platform embraced by millions of C-suite executives and job seekers alike experienced a service outage on Wednesday, about 24 hours after rival tech company Facebook saw its websites and apps go down as well.
The issue started around 4 p.m. Eastern Time when users were greeted with a message that “an error has occurred.” The website’s smartphone and tablet apps were also disrupted during the outage. More than 50,000 reports were filed with the website Down Detector about the glitch, according to a review of the website by The Desk.
A message posted to LinkedIn’s status page said the website was aware of the issue and was working on a fix.
“Some members may be experiencing issues on LinkedIn,” the message read. “We’re actively working on this and will provide updates as we have them. Thanks for your patience!”
Numerous LinkedIn users took to rival social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share their concerns during the outage:

The precise cause of the outage was not immediately clear.
The issue happened one day after Facebook suffered from a similar incident that caused millions of people to be automatically logged out of their accounts, with no way to log back in. The glitch also impacted Facebook’s mobile apps, as well as co-owned platforms Instagram and Threads.
