Carlos Ferreiro will step away from his role as the Chief Financial Officer of Spanish-language broadcaster Televisa-Univision, the company said on Wednesday.

The broadcaster said “health reasons” prompted Ferreiro’s departure from the role, which will see Juan Pablo Newman serve as interim CFO from September 1.

““It has been the highlight of my career to have served as the first CFO of Televisa-Univision as we have accomplished so much and built a world-class organization that is equipped to compete in the global media landscape,” Ferreiro said.

Ferreiro will help facilitate the transition of the role, and will remain at Televisa-Univision as an advisor, the company said.

“On behalf of the board of directors, the entire management team and the stockholders of the Company, I want to thank Carlos for his immeasurable commitment, counsel, contributions, and leadership over the years, especially during the complex Televisa-Univision transaction in 2021 that made us the definitive global leader in Spanish-language media,” Alfonso de Angoitia, the Executive Chairman of Televisa-Univision, said in a statement.

“The leadership, expertise and commitment that Carlos demonstrated over these formative years for Televisa-Univision have been invaluable,” CEO Wade Davis said. “We are grateful to him for his many contributions that have helped propel the company to where we are today.”
