Paramount Global’s CBS Sports has renewed its telecast agreement with Lega Serie A that will keep English-language telecasts of the soccer matches on CBS properties for at least two more years.
The announcement was made at the Serie A Assembly in New York City. Serie A hosts soccer matches and tournaments played by Italian clubs.
CBS Sports first gained the domestic telecast rights to Serie A matches with the 2021-2022 season, and offered the majority of games through Paramount’s flagship subscription streaming service, Paramount Plus with Showtime. Some games also on the pay TV channel CBS Sports Network.
Moving forward, more than 400 club matches will stream live through Paramount Plus each season, CBS Sports and Serie A affirmed last week. All 380 Serie A matches are included in the deal, as are two dozen Coppa Italia matches and all Supercoppa Italiana matches.
“The new deal marks the widest distribution in the U.S. of Serie A, with the most matches airing on broadcast television ever over the course of the deal, including on the CBS Television Network, as well as select matches on CBS Sports Network and CBS Sports Golazo Network,” a spokesperson for CBS Sports affirmed in a statement.
The schedule for the 2024-2025 season will be released in the coming weeks.
In addition to Serie A matches, Paramount Plus offers live coverage of UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Concacaf, Argentine Primera División and Scottish Professional Football League matches. Paramount also shares the rights to National Women’s Soccer League events with Warner Bros Discovery’s TNT Sports.
