Radio broadcaster Chris “Mad Dog” Russo has signed a new employment agreement with SiriusXM that will keep him at the satellite and streaming radio broadcaster through 2027, the company announced on Tuesday.
The three-year agreement will allow SiriusXM to serve as the exclusive home of “Mad Dog Unleashed,” the weekday evening drive-time show that broadcasts from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time (noon to 3 p.m. Pacific Time). Russo will also continue to serve as the face of “Mad Dog Sports Radio,” which airs on SiriusXM Channel 82.
“SiriusXM is my radio home,” Russo said in a statement. “I’m proud of what we’ve built here over these last 16 years. I love the platform and the freedom to be me and do the kind of show my audience and I enjoy. Four decades into my career, I can honestly say I am as excited to turn on that mic and talk to my listeners every day as I was when I first started my career!”
“While he has inspired a lot of imitators over the years, there’ll never be anybody else on the air like Chris,” said Scott Greenstein, the President and Chief Content Officer at SiriusXM. “He’s more popular and dynamic today than he has ever been, and we couldn’t be more excited and proud to have him continue his legendary career on SiriusXM.”
Russo joined SiriusXM in 2008 after serving as the co-host of the popular WFAN (660 AM) show “Mike and the Mad Dog,” which aired in New York City and simulcast on the YES Network. He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2022.
In addition to his work at SiriusXM, Russo hosts his own daily TV show, “High Heat with Christopher Russo,” which airs on the MLB Network. He also makes occasional appearances on ESPN’s morning recap show “First Take.”
New SiriusXM subscribers can listen to “Mad Dog Unleashed” and “Mad Dog Sports Radio” by signing up for an extended trial of SiriusXM streaming radio, which costs $1 for the first three months when purchased by clicking or tapping this link.
