Lynn Beall, TEGNA’s chief operating officer of media operations whose roots with the company date back to the late 1980s, will leave the television broadcaster next year.
Beall joined the TV broadcaster in 1988, eventually becoming the president and general manager of then-Gannet Corporation’s KSDK (Channel 5, NBC) in St.Louis. She moved into a corporate position in 2006, becoming the Executive Vice President of Media. Gannett split TEGNA Into its own business in 2015.
For the past seven years, Beall has served as the Executive Vice President and COO of Media Operations, based in Virginia.
“Lynn Beall is an extraordinary leader who serves TEGNA with distinction every day,” Mike Steib, the Chief Executive Officer of TEGNA, said in a statement. “As those who know her are aware, there’s no stronger advocate and voice for our stations and partners than Lynn, and the results of her decades of service to TEGNA are unmatched.”
Steib said he was “grateful for Lynn’s invaluable expertise and perspective as we begin the important work of thoughtfully evolving TEGNA’s strategy.”
“I am extremely proud that TEGNA has grown from 12 stations when I joined the company in 1988 to 64 stations today and that we have built a world-class team to operate the business,” Beall said on Wednesday. “Over the transition period, I’ll be working with Mike and the entire TEGNA team to ensure we’re taking full advantage of opportunities to reach and serve our audiences and customers. TEGNA has a great foundation and even greater prospects ahead.”
Beall will leave the company in mid-2025 after a “significant transition period,” which will involve a transition to “a new organizational structure,” a spokesperson for TEGNA said on Wednesday.
Beall is the latest high-level executive to announce tehir departure from the broadcaster. Earlier this year, TEGNA said its long-time CEO David Lougee had set his retirement date for August; Steib assumed the role last month. Ellen Crooke, TEGNA’s Senior Vice President of News, announced her decision to retire earlier this month.
