More than one million people tuned in to watch Cole Custer move himself into pole position to win the Bristol Xfinity race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday, according to Nielsen ratings shared by Nexstar Media Group on Monday.
It marked the highest-rated NASCAR Xfinity Series race aired by Nexstar’s CW Network since July, the broadcaster said, with an average audience of 906,000 viewers. The race peaked at more than a million viewers between 9:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Eastern Time, the Nielsen data showed.
Nexstar said the Bristol Xfinity race marked a major improvement in viewership compared to an earlier race held on September 14. The CW Network saw a 16 percent lift in overall viewership on Friday compared to the September 14 race, to include a 52 percent increase among adults between the ages of 25 to 54 years old and a 50 percent increase among adults between the ages of 18 and 49 years old. The two groups are among the most-attractive to sports and television ad buyers.
The next NASCAR Xfinity Series race is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 28. The playoff race will air on the CW Network live from the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City.
