The National Football League (NFL) has struck a deal with streaming audio platform TuneIn to offer live audio simulcasts of its regular season games in most parts of the world.
On Thursday, the NFL and TuneIn said football fans outside North America and China will be able to stream audio simulcasts of all games this season through TuneIn Premium, which varies in price based on market. SiriusXM continues to be the exclusive national distributor of NFL radio broadcasts in the United States, while teams have in-market agreements with local radio stations.
“Streaming audio continues to be a convenient and entertaining way to enjoy the play-by-play action of game day,” said Sameer Pabari, the Managing Director of International Media at the NFL. “We’re excited to continue to work with TuneIn to deliver high-quality audio coverage to our international fan base, as we strategically prioritize global growth. TuneIn’s distribution network helps bring NFL fans around the world closer to the action.”
TuneIn’s agreement with the NFL covers the league’s five international games that will be played in Brazil, the United Kingdom and Germany this year. The first of those games kicks off on Friday at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time. The last international game is scheduled to take place on November 10.
“The NFL is growing globally with the expansion of its international games for the 2024 season, adding Brazil to its regular season schedule while also returning to the U.K. and Germany,” said Kevin Straley the Chief Content Officer of TuneIn. “We’re excited to deliver play-by-play content to fans around the world through TuneIn Premium for every NFL game this season.”
In addition to the NFL, TuneIn’s international audio distribution partnerships include Major League Baseball (MLB) and Major League Soccer (MLS), Big 12 Conference and Formula 1, among others. Two years ago, it inked a distribution agreement with sports media brand Bleav to make its podcasts available through the streaming audio platform.
