Hearst Television has promoted David Callahan to serve as the Director of Broadcast Information Technology (I.T.) for the company.

Callahan has worked in various engineering and IT roles at WXII (Channel 12, NBC) in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina market since 2002, and most recently served as the I.T. manager for the station and its CW Network affiliate.

Starting in December, Callahan will succeed Larry Vancini, who is retiring after nearly five decades at Hearst. Callahan will remain in North Carolina and reports to Kenneth Murphy, Hearst Television’s Vice President of I.T.

“David is an extremely talented systems engineer who has been an invaluable member of the Hearst Television technology team for many years,” said Stefan Hadl, the SVP of Broadcast Engineering and Technology at Hearst. “His diverse experience in the broadcast industry affords him a special vantage point and understanding of our operations and technology, making him the perfect individual to help lead our television properties’ I.T. needs into the future. We congratulate David on this well-earned promotion, and we thank Larry for all his many contributions to our company and industry, and we wish him all the best in retirement.”

Callahan holds degrees in Electronic Engineering and Network Engineering.  He has participated in the Hearst Leadership Development Program administered by Harvard Business Publishing and has various certifications including VMware Virtualization and Cisco Networking.
