Hearst Television on Wednesday promoted Allison Smith to serve as the President and General Manager at its Omaha market ABC affiliate.

Smith succeeds Shawn Oswald, who previously served as the GM of KETV (Channel 7, ABC) in Omaha and who will move over to WISN (Channel 12, ABC) in Milwaukee. Smith joins KETV from Des Moines CBS affiliate KCCI (8), where she worked as the news director.

“Allison is an accomplished news leader who has demonstrated success in every opportunity she has earned,” Michael J. Hayes, the President of Hearst Television, said in a statement on Wednesday. “She brings an understanding of the region which will accentuate the strength of the leadership team at one of our most successful properties.”

Smith began her career at KCCI as a news producer in 1999. She returned to KCCI in 2018 after serving in news producer and assistant news director roles at TV stations in Ohio.

In 2023, KCCI was honored with 16 Iowa Broadcast News Association awards and six regional Edward R. Murrow awards. KCCI also earned the Service to America Award from the National Association of Broadcasters that year; KETV earned the same designation in 2024.
