Television broadcaster Sinclair, Inc. and its sports network Tennis Channel are partnering with the Salvation Army to provide wildfire disaster relief and support throughout Southern California.
The initiative is part of Sinclair’s ongoing “Sinclair Cares” initiative, with the company soliciting donations from the public via its California Wildfire Relief portal.
Those donations will help Sinclair, the Tennis Channel and the Salvation Army provide critical wildfire relief resources like food, water and critical aid to survivors of the disaster.
A series of wildfires erupted in the greater Los Angeles area on Tuesday, with new fires igniting every day since. The two largest fires, the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, have destroyed thousands of homes and forced the evacuation of nearly 200,000 residents in the city and county of Los Angeles.
“Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by these devastating wildfires,” Rob Weisbord, the Chief Operating Officer and President of Local Media at Sinclair, said on Friday. “Sinclair is committed to supporting the communities we serve, especially in times of need. By partnering with the Salvation Army, we aim to bring hope and critical resources to those affected in Southern California.”
Sinclair operates a handful of television stations in California, including KBAK (Channel 29, CBS & Fox) in Bakersfield, KMPH (Channel 26, Fox) in Fresno and KRCR (Channel 7, ABC) in Chico.
Last year, Sinclair and its local TV stations raised nearly $1.3 million for hurricane relief efforts, with donations provided to the Salvation Army for relief efforts in the southeastern United States.
