Streaming sports juggernaut DAZN is partnering with Spanish-language broadcaster Televisa-Univision on a number of televised soccer matches from the FIFA Club World Cup tournament this year.
Through the partnership, Televisa-Univision will broadcast 18 matches from the FIFA Club World Cup tournament, which will be available to watch in Spanish on Univision, UniMas and the cable channel TUDN.
DAZN will work with Televisa-Univision on the production of the broadcasts, as well as pre-game and post-game shows. The two companies will share branding of the shows and TV studios, and work closely on promotional and marketing strategies leading up to and during the tournament, which starts June 14.
“AZN’s wide-ranging partnership with Televisa-Univision is an important part of our distribution strategy for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, and will ensure that every soccer fan in the U.S. can watch the tournament how they want,” Shay Segev, the CEO of DAZN, said in a statement. “As well as delivering top-quality programming, we look forward to collaborating on marketing and ad sales, creating an unparalleled offering for brands and audiences alike.”
“Televisa-Univision is committed to serving our audience with the best futbol action. We’re excited to partner with DAZN to bring the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, featuring some of the greatest clubs and players in the world, to millions of Spanish-speaking fans across the country,” Olek Loewenstein, the President of Global Sports at Televisa-Univision, said this week. “As soccer continues to build significant momentum in the U.S., brands will have a unique opportunity to tap into the passion of this sport, bridging sports and culture together to engage with Hispanic consumers.”
DAZN is the official global broadcaster of the 2024 FIFA Club World Cup soccer tournament. The company has the rights to sublicense the event to domestic broadcasters in different territories. As of Friday morning, the company has yet to announce an English-language broadcaster for the tournament, though DAZN affirmed its distribution of FIFA Club World Cup matches will be on a free-to-air basis.
The FIFA Club World Cup is an annual soccer tournament, and is separate from the FIFA World Cup event held every four years. The FIFA World Cup tournament will take place in different parts of the United States next year. Fox Sports has the English-language broadcast rights to the FIFA World Cup, while Comcast’s Telemundo has the Spanish-language rights to the event.
