Nexstar Media Group’s CW Network has hired Michael Perman to serve as its new Senior Vice President of Sports, the company announced on Thursday.

In his new role, Perman will oversee all strategy, programming and media rights for CW Sports, to include the broadcaster’s current programming deals with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), NASCAR, LIV Golf and college sports franchises. He most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Global Media Rights at the media agency Aggregate Sports, and also held an executive-level role at Comcast’s NBC Universal within its NBC Sports division.

“As our sports programming schedule continues to grow at a breakneck pace, we are excited to bring a consummate pro like Mike Perman to our team of experienced industry executives, producers, and talent who are leading the charge to transform the CW into a must-see destination for live sporting events,” Brad Schwartz, the President of the CW Network and Perman’s direct report, said in a statement.

“With nearly 400 hours a year of sports content now under Mike’s leadership, including NASCAR, WWE, ACC, Pac12, Grand Slam Track, and Inside The NFL, we are confident he will play a significant role in driving continued success for CW Sports,” Schwartz continued.

Perman has spent nearly his entire media career involved in sports. In addition to his roles at Aggregate Sports and NBC Sports, he worked as a scheduler for Fox Sports and as the Director of Programming for the National Basketball Association (NBA). Nexstar said Perman was one of the individuals responsible for the NBA’s global recognition.

“I am thrilled to be able to deliver first-class sports programming across the CW’s ubiquitously available broadcast and digital platforms while fostering strong and enduring relationships within the sports world,” Perman said in a statement. “Together, we will continue to transform the network into a premier destination for fans, offering dynamic live sporting events and engaging programming.”
