Executives at AT&T have held discussions about acquiring Lumen Technology’s fiber-based network, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.

A deal between the two companies would value Lumen’s fiber business at around $5.5 billion, the financial news channel said.

Lumen operated its residential and enterprise fiber business under the CenturyLink brand name until 2020. The deal being discussed between Lumen and AT&T would apply to its consumer fiber broadband operations, Bloomberg said, citing unnamed sources.

Terms have not been finalized, and the discussions may end without a deal in place, one source told the news outlet.
