DirecTV will serve as a presenting sponsor of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas this summer.
As the official SXSW correspondent, DirecTV will have exclusive red-carpet access to events at the Zach Theater and other festival premieres, the company announced on Monday.
It is the first time DirecTV has participated in a sponsorship opportunity at SXSW, which started in 1987.
DirecTV will use the sponsorship opportunity to promote its pay television service, including its newly-launched, genre-based programming bundles like MySports and MyEntertainment that offer TV fans a lower-cost option to watch broadcast channels and cable networks. The packages are available through the DirecTV Stream app and start at $35 per month — far less than a typical cable or satellite subscription.
“DirecTV is thrilled to be a part of the SXSW Film & TV Festival for the first time in 2025,” said Josh Stern, the Associate Vice President of Brand Strategy and Investments at DirecTV. “We see this sponsorship as a wonderful opportunity to reach new audiences as we continue to educate the public about new genre-based offerings in the months to come.”
“We’re so excited to welcome DirecTV as a sponsor for this year’s SXSW Film & TV Festival,” Peter Lewis, the Chief Partnerships Officer at SXSW, said in a statement on Monday. “Their support enhances the experience for our attendees and underscores the impact our event has in bringing together the entertainment industry. With DIRECTV’s involvement, we’re elevating the opportunities that make SXSW special.”
