TEGNA has hired a pair of new executives who will oversee product and growth initiatives for the local television broadcaster.

Melissa Zimyeski will serve as TEGNA’s Vice President of Product, and joins the company from the Mayo Clinic, where she was a senior VP and head of the health firm’s product and experience unit. She began her career in the local media division of NBC Universal, owned by Comcast.

Mat Yurow will take the title of Vice President of Growth, and joins TEGNA from the New York Times, where he served in different executive roles focused on product strategy, audience development and commerce. He previously worked for Bloomberg News and the Huffington Post.

“With a wealth of experience building delightful, user-centric products, Melissa is uniquely positioned to elevate our digital product strategy,” Dhanusha Sivajee, TEGNA’s Chief Experience Officer and the direct report of both new hires, said in a statement on Thursday. “In tandem, Mat is uniquely positioned to help us build and scale a growth marketing team. They will both play an integral role in delivering exceptional experiences to our local community members around the country.”

In addition to the new hires, TEGNA said it is scheduled to hold its first quarter (Q1) earnings for 2025 on Thursday, May 8.
