Gray Media has promoted the news director of its Memphis television station to serve as the general manager of its local TV outlet in Iowa.

On May 1, Mark Little will be leaving WRC-TV (Channel 5, NBC) in order to take the top station job at KWQC (Channel 6), the NBC affiliate serving the Davenport area.

Little has spent most of his 30-plus year career in local television working for Gray Media-owned or operated stations: Before joining WRC in 2022, he served as the news director of WLBT (Channel 3), the NBC affiliate in Jacksonville, Mississippi. He also held news director roles at WIS-TV (Channel 10, NBC) in Columbia, South Carolina and KFVS (Channel 12, CBS) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the latter of which is where he spent more than 17 years of his career with Gray. He started in the local TV industry at KPLR (Channel 11) in St. Louis, the Koplar-owned TV station acquired by Nexstar some years ago.

Throughout his career, he has won a number of industry awards, including Station of the Year, Edward R. Murrow awards and numerous regional Emmy Awards. He was also one of the first news directors to launch local news podcasts, which expanded the reach of his station’s local journalism throughout the community.

Little has served on the boards of the American Red Cross and United Way, nd is a member of the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and IRE, the consortium for investigative reporters and editors.
