Gray Media has hired consumer affairs reporter and investigative journalist Anna Werner to serve in a similar capacity for the broadcaster’s Investigate TV program.
Werner joins Gray Media after serving as an investigative reporter for more than two decades, most recently at CBS News, where she was based in New York City.
At CBS, Werner built a reputation for exposing corporate wrongdoing and systemic failures, with reporting that triggered real-world consequences. Her investigations have led to the nation’s largest tire recall, the shutdown of a major transplant program, reform at a metropolitan crime lab, and the removal of a medical device linked to widespread patient harm.
She also led high-impact investigations, including the acclaimed “Medical Price Roulette” series, which pulled back the curtain on the United States’ opaque and inconsistent healthcare pricing system.
“Anna has led investigations that resulted in the nation’s largest tire recall, the shutting down of a major transplant program, sweeping reforms of a metropolitan crime lab and ending sales of a medical device causing thousands harm,” said Lee Zurik, the Senior Vice President of News Strategy and Innovation at Gray Media. “She is the perfect addition to the Investigate TV team’s core strength of solutions-based journalism that makes a tangible difference in the lives of our viewers.”
Werner’s work has been recognized with a formidable list of journalism accolades: 33 Emmy Awards, six RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards, four Sigma Delta Chi Awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, three Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) Awards, and both the George Foster Peabody and DuPont-Columbia Awards twice each. Werner is also known for her collaborative reporting across platforms, including PBS NewsHour, NPR, ABC affiliates, and KFF Health News.
