Charter Communications and its telecommunications service brand Spectrum have been named the official telecom partner of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, the companies announced on Monday.

The pact will see Spectrum receive a broad slate of marketing opportunities across the Cardinals’ media and physical platforms, including ad placements during English and Spanish radio broadcasts, Spectrum brand placements on the team’s websites and social media platforms and integration with the team’s pitching change announcements at Busch Stadium.

Spectrum will also enjoy high-profile signage throughout the ballpark, including visibility on home television broadcasts via placement behind home plate and on the outfield wall pad in left field.

“Like the Cardinals, Spectrum is part of daily life for many in St. Louis, and working with the team gives us another way to connect with the people who live and work here,” said Sharon Peters, the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Spectrum. “As the St. Louis region’s largest connectivity provider, we know what it takes to perform at the highest level. Sponsoring the Cardinals gives us a powerful platform to engage with fans, support the local economy and celebrate the passion that defines this community.”

Charter says the partnership is part of its ongoing missing to bolster Spectrum’s local presence through an alignment with a sports brand that shares its values. Spectrum operates in 41 states, serving more than 31 million residential and business customers with cable TV, broadband Internet, phone and wireless service. Many of its video packages include local, regional and national sports channels, including those that carry Cardinals games.

“We are proud to welcome Spectrum as the club’s Official Telecommunications Partner,” said Joe Pfeiffer, the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at the St. Louis Cardinals. “This partnership is a natural fit given Spectrum’s deep ties to the St. Louis area and both organizations’ shared passion for connecting fans and reaching them in dynamic new ways.”

Charter was originally founded in St. Louis in the early 1990s.
