A 27-year-old man is facing murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting of his mother, a long-time television make-up artist.

The victim, Travis Renee Baldwin, most recently worked for Newsmax, where she was eulogized at the end of Tuesday’s broadcast of “On the Record with Greta van Susteren.”

“We’re all in shock. We all can’t believe it,” van Susteren said during the segment, adding that she recently spoke with Baldwin before last Friday’s show.

“Renee was everyone’s friend, just 100 percent decent, not a mean bone in her body,” van Susteren said. “And I know, as soon as the news of her murder gets out, there’s going to be likewise sadness over at ABC and ESPN, because Newsmax is where Renee spent the last few years, but she was also there for many years at those news organizations.”

Early Sunday morning, police in Virginia were dispatched to a report of a shooting inside a residence. When they arrived, they found Baldwin suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she later died.

Baldwin’s son, Logan Chrisinger, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was also charged with using a firearm in the commission of a felony and aggravated malicious wounding, according to police reports.

Police have not detailed a motive for the shooting, but said Chrisinger remained at the scene of the crime, which allowed police to apprehend him for the alleged murder.
