Sinclair, Inc. has added journalist Taylor Murray to the anchor team at The National News Desk (TND), the broadcaster announced on Monday.
Murray brings more than a decade of experience in broadcast journalism. Most recently, she anchored the 4, 5, 7, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts at Fox affiliate WHNS (Channel 21) in Greenville, South Carolina. Before that, she worked as an anchor and reporter in Charleston, South Carolina, and held production roles at stations in New York.
A graduate of Southeastern University with a degree in broadcast journalism, Murray is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Junior League of Washington. She also volunteers with Meals on Wheels and the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.
“Taylor’s experience, passion, and dedication to fair, fact-based journalism makes her an exceptional addition to The National News Desk team,” Valeria Riccioli, director of content for TND, said in a statement. “Her versatility and commitment to connecting viewers with impactful stories will strengthen our mission to deliver trusted news to audiences nationwide.”
Murray will work alongside current TND anchors Jan Jeffcoat, Dee Dee Gaton, Mark Boyle, Ryan Smith, Angela Brown, Geoffrey Harris and Emma Withrow.
“It’s a tremendous honor to join the dedicated team of journalists at The National News Desk,” Murray said in a statement. “With a strong commitment to truth and a genuine curiosity about the issues shaping our communities – locally, nationally, and globally – I’m eager to tell the stories that matter most to our viewers.”
The National News Desk launched in 2021 and airs in broadcast syndication across the country. The program delivers national, regional, and local coverage by drawing on reporting resources from Sinclair’s television stations. It broadcasts across multiple dayparts and includes a mix of live news and original reporting segments.
In addition to its daily coverage, TND features several ongoing segments. Those include Spotlight on America, the network’s investigative reporting unit that recently earned a National Press Club Award, Fact Check Team, which examines political discourse, and Pulse of America, a showcase of community-focused reporting from Sinclair stations across the country.
The show has experienced steady audience growth since its launch, with Sinclair reporting a 61 percent increase in weekly reach over the past three years.
“The National News Desk elevates some of the most important stories occurring in cities and towns across the country,” Scott Livingston, Sinclair’s Senior Vice President of News, said in a statement. “With reporters residing in the communities they cover, The National News Desk has access to real stories from the perspectives of those they affect directly.”
