Comcast’s NBC Universal Telemundo Enterprises has promoted Joaquin Duro to Executive Vice President, Sports and Head of Streaming, expanding his leadership beyond Telemundo Deportes to include oversight of the company’s entire streaming portfolio. The appointment is effective immediately.

Duro succeeds Romina Rosado in leading Telemundo’s streaming efforts. He previously served as Senior Vice President of AVOD Streaming and Digital, managing production, monetization, and operations across Telemundo’s digital ecosystem, including its app and social platforms. He will continue reporting to Luis Fernandez, the Chairman of NBC Universal Telemundo Enterprises.

In his expanded role, Duro will manage strategy, development, and monetization across all streaming properties, including YouTube, FAST (free, ad-supported streaming TV) channels, Peacock, and the Telemundo app. He will also collaborate with NBC Universal’s broader streaming and Peacock teams to execute business initiatives across entertainment, news, and sports.

“Sports and streaming are two major priorities for Telemundo’s future growth,” said Fernandez. “This appointment is a natural transition for Joaquin, given his extensive experience leading streaming and digital businesses targeting the full spectrum of Latino audiences. This strategic move aligns with our company’s growth objectives and positions us to capitalize on emerging market opportunities in the streaming industry.”

Duro has led Telemundo Deportes since September 2024, overseeing production, programming, acquisitions, and multiplatform content. Under his leadership, Telemundo has managed coverage of FIFA World Cup properties, the Olympic Games, NFL Sunday Night Football, U.S. Soccer Federation matches, Premier League and Liga MX’s Chivas de Guadalajara, in partnership with NBC Sports and Peacock.

Since taking charge of the sports division, Duro reorganized operations, introduced new on-air and production talent, and launched the late-night sports show “El Pelotazo” and the 24/7 streaming channel “Telemundo Deportes Ahora.” He will also lead Telemundo’s upcoming Spanish-language coverage of the NBA, the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Super Bowl LX and the FIFA World Cup 26 across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead two key growth engines at Telemundo,” Duro said. “Latinos are super streamers and love live content, especially sports. With NBC Universal’s support, our incredible content pipeline and our great team of professionals at Telemundo, we are extraordinarily well positioned to serve our audience with world-class sports content in Spanish while growing our multiplatform streaming business.”

Before joining Telemundo, Duro held key leadership roles at Univision Communications, where he helped guide the network’s sports strategy and large-scale event productions.
