Fox Corporation is launching a new channel in several Latin American countries after acquiring the programming and local operations of Tigo Sports Channel, the company announced on Monday.
The new Fox Channel will be available in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama, and includes a slate of sports content, local rights agreements, production infrastructure and on-air talent, Fox said in a statement.
As part of the transaction, Fox will launch four channel feeds, with Tigo customers in those markets continuing to receive sports programming under an expanded offering.
The regional portfolio includes domestic football (soccer) leagues and teams across multiple countries, including El Salvador’s Primera División and the full Panamanian Football League. The package also features exclusive team rights from Costa Rica’s Liga Promérica and Guatemala’s Liga Bantrab, alongside other local rights and original programming anchored by regional talent.
Fox said the local soccer offering will be complemented by its international sports rights portfolio, which includes leagues such as the Premier League, UEFA Europa League, Bundesliga beginning with the 2026–27 season, the Saudi Pro League and Liga MX. The company also holds a range of women’s soccer rights across Mexico and Europe.
Beyond soccer, Fox plans to offer more than 800 live sports events annually in Central America across multiple disciplines. These include Major League Baseball, mixed martial arts through the Professional Fighters League, AAA lucha libre, the NASCAR Cup Series, Formula E, World Rally Championship and World Endurance Championship motorsports, as well as college sports from the Big Ten Conference.
“Central America is a region with a deep passion for sports, and we are excited to strengthen our presence by delivering a first-class sports service that blends local content and talent with our existing international rights,” said Carlos Martinez, the Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Fox Latin America. “At the same time, I am pleased to appoint Leandro Lagos as the head of Fox in Central America to help lead our operations in the territory.”
The new Fox Channel expands the company’s business in Latin America, which includes localized versions of the core Fox entertainment channel and ad-supported streaming service Tubi. In the future, Fox Channel is expected to be offered through the Fox One streaming service, the company said.
