Hubbard Broadcasting’s cable network Reelz is expanding its offering of true crime shows by inking a distribution deal with Law&Crime to offer three of its YouTube shows, the companies announced this week.
The shows will air during a three-hour, prime-time programming block rolling out on Monday, August 17. The block will include “Bodycam,” “Most Outrageous Crimes” and “Interrogations.” Each program will air as a one-hour episode, the network said.
The deal comes just a few months after Law&Crime acquired Court TV from the E. W. Scripps Company, making its deal with Hubbard and Reelz a bit unusual, since the brand already has a traditional TV network that can distribute its YouTube shows.
Nonetheless, Law&Crime promoted the agreement as a milestone moment, with Reelz serving as its first-ever cable TV partner. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“This partnership reflects the increasing appetite among traditional cable networks for successful digital-first programming that has already built large, engaged audiences online and we’re honored Reelz has chosen to partner with us,” Rachel Stockman, the President of Law&Crime and Court TV, said in a statement.
The deal also gives Reelz additional crime and law enforcement programming for a primetime schedule already known for police-focused and investigative series. The channel already has a relationship with Dan Abrams, the founder of Law&Crime, who hosts the show “On Patrol: Live,” which was inspired by his A&E series “Live PD.”
Other true crime shows offered by Reelz include”CopyCat Killers,” “Murder Made Me Famous,” “Murder in the Family,” “The Price of Fame” and “Executed.”
Reelz is available on cable platforms across the country, and is distributed nationally by streaming services Philo, Frndly TV, Sling TV, DIRECTV and Comcast’s Peacock.
