Fawesome has launched a redesigned connected television experience that places greater emphasis on content discovery and gives advertisers new ways to reach viewers before they start watching a movie or show.

The free, advertising-supported streaming service is a flagship property of Future Today, which operates a portfolio of connected television channels and streaming services. The company said the redesigned Fawesome experience is intended to make it easier for viewers to find programming while creating new ad opportunities inside the browsing environment.

“The future of streaming won’t be defined by what people watch, it will be defined by how they discover,” Vikrant Mathur, the co-Founder of Future Today, said. “Discovery has become the new front door to engagement, and we’re transforming that moment into a premium opportunity for both viewers and brands.”

The update expands Fawesome’s use of high-visibility hero placements, which the company says have delivered more than 40 percent higher user engagement. Fawesome is also introducing in-grid ad overlays, a native advertising format embedded directly within the app’s browsing interface.

The format is designed to surface as viewers scroll through programming options, giving advertisers visibility without interrupting video playback. Fawesome said the placements appear in top content rows, which account for more than 80 percent of total daily viewership on the service.

The company is positioning the format around the growing amount of time viewers spend browsing streaming apps before deciding what to watch. By placing ads inside the discovery process, Fawesome said brands can reach viewers while they are actively considering content choices.

Fawesome is also expanding Playlist Brand Takeovers, which allow advertisers to integrate their logos into curated content destinations. The format allows brands to align with genre, mood or viewing occasion-based playlists, such as action or home improvement programming collections. The goal is to create advertising that fits within the viewing experience rather than interrupting it.

“Discovery-driven formats like In-Grid Ad Overlays and Playlist Brand Takeovers represent a fundamental shift in how brands show up on CTV,” Alex Pakla, the Vice President of Ad Sales at Future Today, said on Tuesday. “Instead of interrupting what viewers are watching, we’re integrating brands into the moments when audiences are most engaged and receptive — when they’re actively deciding what to watch next.”

Fawesome offers a library of free movies and television shows across genres including drama, true crime, lifestyle and family programming. Future Today said the service provides brand-safe inventory for advertisers seeking incremental reach beyond traditional television.
