Charter Communications this week said its Chief Financial Officer Jessica Fischer will be departing the company in mid-October to pursue another professional role.

The company is now moving forward with a comprehensive search for Fischer’s successor ahead of her departure, which is scheduled for October 15. In the meantime, Charter’s Executive Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer Kevin Howard will assume the Chief Financial Officer role on an interim basis from mid-October until a permanent successor is named.

Howard will work with Fischer ahead of the transition to support ongoing financial operations, Charter said.

Fischer joined Charter nearly 10 years ago and became Chief Financial Officer in 2021. Chris Winfrey, President and Chief Executive Officer of Charter Communications, credited Fischer with helping guide the company’s growth and financial operations during a period in which Spectrum expanded its broadband and video business.

“I first met Jessica more than 15 years ago and actively recruited her to join our team at Charter,” Winfrey said in a statement. “Since joining Charter nearly 10 years ago, and becoming our CFO in 2021, she has been a key part of our executive team.”

Fischer has also led Charter through its more-recent period turbulence, brought on by the trend of cord-cutting — first on the pay television side, then on the broadband side.

In Charter’s most-recent financial report, the company revealed a 1.7 percent drop in overall revenue spurred by a 3.2 percent dip in broadband revenue and a 9.7 percent decline in video revenue as cord-cutting continued, despite Charter’s best effort to maintain existing accounts and bring in new ones through bundled opportunities that pair streaming apps with legacy TV channels and wireless service with land-based Internet.

Fischer said it had been “a privilege” to be part of Charter’s growth over the past decade.

“I have learned so much from Chris and this team and am grateful for the opportunity and trust they placed in me to lead Charter’s financial operation,” Fischer said.
