Fox News Media has parted ways with its morning news personality Maria Bartiromo, the company announced in a short press release on Thursday.
No reason was given for Bartiromo’s departure; she worked for Fox Business since 2013, joining from CNBC, where she helped lead that network’s coverage of the September 11 terrorist attack with reporting from the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street.

Bartiromo has hosted the morning news program on Fox Business since she started with the network. She also hosts a weekend recap show covering Wall Street from a more-straightforward news perspective.
Moving forward, Fox News says Bartiromo’s morning news program — retitled to “Mornings with Fox Business” — will feature a rotating slate of anchors, while her weekend show will be hosted by Cheryl Casone before another slate of anchors takes over on a rotating basis.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 and a half years, and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” a spokesperson for Fox News Media said in a statement.
There is speculation that the timing of her departure, coupled with her fondness of President Donald Trump, has made her a candidate to take over the position of White House Press Secretary after former press secretary Karolien Leavitt departed at the end of August.
When asked about that possibility during a press conference Thursday, Vice President J.D. Vance downplayed the likelihood that Bartiromo is next in line for the job.
“I don’t know, man,” he said to a Newsweek reporter. “No, I don’t think so. I just saw the news literally as I walked out the door…I don’t get involved in the personal drama of media stations.”
Vance joked that Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy should take the podium to answer questions about “what happened to Maria.”
“Whatever she does, look, she’s going to do great, and I wish her all the best,” Vance said, adding that he hadn’t spoken with the journalist and wasn’t aware of why she “decided to leave Fox News.”
