Cable television provider Optimum Optimum has renewed its distribution agreement with A+E Global media that will keep the company’s lifestyle and knowledge channels on its pay TV platform for a few more years.
The agreement covers A+E’s full linear portfolio, including A&E, The History Channel, Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network, FYI, Vice, Lifetime Real Women and The History Channel en Español, the companies said in a press release on Wednesday.
The deal builds on a long-standing relationship between Optimum and A+E Global Media, which is in the process of being acquired by former joint venture stakeholder Hearst Corporation. The Walt Disney Company is selling its shares of the company to Hearst.
A+E’s recent programming highlights include “WWII with Tom Hanks,” which ranked as cable’s No. 1 nonfiction series among adults 25 and older and total viewers, reaching more than 24 million viewers to date. Lifetime’s “Angel in the Rubble,” executive produced by Sherri Shepherd, Robin Roberts, Linda Berman and Anne Carlucci, also ranked No. 1 on Optimum among women 25 and older.
“Optimum is committed to delivering a best-in-class entertainment experience that gives customers the content they love with the flexibility, accessibility and value they expect,” Keith Bowen, the President of News, Programming and Business Services at Optimum, said in a statement. “This new agreement helps us build on that commitment by preserving access to A+E’s entertainment programming that our customers want to watch.”
Jane Rice, the co-President of Distribution at A+E Global Media, said Optimum has been a valued partner for many years.
“We are pleased to continue our longstanding relationship and bring its customers the distinctive storytelling, trusted brands and premium entertainment that define A+E Global Media,” Rice said. “Together, we are committed to delivering high-quality programming wherever and whenever audiences choose to engage.”
Optimum provides broadband, video, mobile, proprietary content and advertising services to around 4.2 million residential and business customers across 21 states. The company also operates Optimum Media, an advertising and data business that provides audience-based multi-screen advertising solutions to local, regional and national businesses, as well as its regional news operation News 12.
