A veteran television news producer was arrested by local police in North Carolina on Wednesday after allegedly violating a domestic violence restraining order.

The producer, Randall Kerr, was detained by police inside the lobby of Raleigh-Durham TV station WRAL-TV (Channel 5, NBC), according to police records.

The arrest comes about a week after Kerr allegedly violated a domestic violence restraining order issued by a court in January, the records showed.

Kerr has worked for the station since 2004. He was married to former WRAL-TV anchor Lynda Loveland; their divorce was finalized on October 9.

According to police records, Kerr violated the restraining order on October 13 when he was found driving in the neighborhood where a person protected under the order lives. He is being held in county jail without bond until his arraignment.

WRAL is owned by Capitol Broadcasting Company, a privately-held media company based in Raleigh.

An e-mail sent to employees on Wednesday said Kerr is currently on leave and is banned from WRAL’s offices “at this time.” No other information about the incident was provided.
