Texas high school football championships to air on Nexstar stations

Nexstar Media Group and Mission Broadcasting will provide free live coverage of all 12 University Interscholastic League (UIL) state high school football championship games across their Texas television stations and streaming platforms in December.

The four-day tournament will take place December 16 through December 19 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, with teams competing for Division I and Division II championships across six classifications.

The companies said participating stations in 13 Texas television markets will offer the games through local broadcast channels, streaming services or both. For the first time, the games will also be accessible to viewers outside Texas through the participating stations’ digital streaming platforms.

“High school football is part of the fabric of Texas, and few events bring communities together like the UIL State Football Championships,” Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, said in a statement.

Alford said the coverage will draw on the companies’ television stations and digital platforms to expand access to the games. Those participating broadcast stations include:

  • KDAF (Channel 33, The CW) in Dallas-Fort Worth, with streaming on CW33 Plus.
  • KIAH (Channel 39, The CW) in Houston, with streaming on CW39 Plus.
