Streaming app Tubi TV has checked in to more than 30,000 hotel rooms across the country thanks to a partnership with in-room entertainment service Enseo, the companies announced this week.
The deal makes Tubi’s ad-supported on-demand streaming movie and TV service available in rooms throughout two dozen hotel chains, including those operated by Hyatt, Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Millennium Hotels, Omni Hotels and Wyndham.
“Our collaboration with Enseo comes at a time where we remain focused on providing easy access to premium content for everyone,” a Tubi TV executive said in a media statement.
Tubi is already available as a free service on the leading smartphones, tablets, streaming set-top boxes, smart TVs and on a handful of pay TV platforms. The service is available to users of Apple, Amazon, Roku, Android, Xbox and Playstation devices, and can be accessed via Comcast’s Xfinity X1 and Cox Cable’s Contour platforms.
The service is also accessible as a native app on certain Samsung, Sony and Vizio smart TV sets as well as a traditional web browser on PCs and Macs.
Launched in 2014, Tubi has quickly grown to over 25 million monthly active users, according to the company’s latest figures. It has invested millions of dollars in programming, inking deals with AT&T’s Warner Bros., ViacomCBS’s Paramount Pictures, Comcast’s NBCUniversal and Lionsgate.
Earlier this year, Tubi executives said the company could spend upwards of $100 million to acquire additional programming.
News of the app’s deal with Enseo comes mere weeks after the Wall Street Journal reported an exploration by Fox Corporation for a possible acquisition. If closed, the deal could be worth as much as $500 million, the Journal said.
