Free streaming service Pluto TV is preparing to launch a new channel that will feature adult animated sitcoms from ViacomCBS’s back catalog of content, according to a source familiar with the plan.

The channel is being developed under the name Comedy Central Animation and will feature classic episodes of Comedy Central’s breakout cartoon series “South Park.” The show was listed among many titles coming to Pluto TV from ViacomCBS back in July, but episodes of South Park have not yet started streaming on the free, ad-supported service.

In addition to classic South Park episodes, Comedy Central Animation is expected to feature re-runs of Comedy Central’s “Drawn Together,” Nickelodeon’s “Ren & Stimpy” and MTV’s “Beavis and Butt-Head.” Episodes of Drawn Together and Beavis & Butt-Head previously aired on other Pluto TV channels that were removed when the service refreshed its channel guide last month.

The channel is expected to launch in the United States sometime before the end of the year, one source said. It was not clear if the channel would launch in European or Latin American countries where international variants of Pluto TV are available.

In an email sent to The Desk on Tuesday, a Pluto TV spokesperson confirmed the channel is coming soon but did not offer specifics on content because the stream is still in development. The spokesperson also did not offer a timetable on when the channel would launch on the service.

Pluto TV offers 250 streams of content in the United States many of which are re-purposed from ViacomCBS broadcast and cable channels. As of May, the service has 24 million monthly active users.
