Philo has added two new live channels and hundreds of on-demand programs to its wallet-friendly streaming service.
Financial news network Bloomberg and the LGBTQ-focused Revry were added to the mix of more than 60 live pay television channels offered by the streamer.
Hundreds of TV shows and movies from the streaming service Crackle will also be offered through Philo’s on-demand catalog of programs, one of the first agreements to make those programs outside of Crackle’s own ad-supported service. Crackle, which came under Sony’s ownership in 2006, is now operated by Chicken Soup for the Soul.
“The addition of new content from Crackle, as well as Bloomberg TV and Revry, further highlights Philo’s commitment to provide our customers with the best TV viewing experience at a great value,” Mike Keyserling, the company’s chief operating officer and executive in charge of programming, said in a statement. “We’re glad to be able to add these incredible channels to our robust line-up of programming for Philo viewers.”
The addition of Bloomberg and Revry as well as the on-demand content from Crackle helps round out Philo’s program offerings as it continues to mature into a competitive service in the pay television streaming space.
Philo costs $20 a month and offers a mix of general entertainment, lifestyle, knowledge and news channels from ViacomCBS (Comedy Central, MTV, BET, Nickelodeon), Discovery Networks (Discovery Channel, Animal Planet), AMC Networks (AMC, IFC, BBC America), A+E Networks (A&E, History Channel) and others.
In addition to its core suite of channels, Philo also offers access to premium pay television networks Starz and Epix for separate fees that are comparable to what other distributors charge.
The service is available for Apple, Android, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices.
