TuneIn adds coverage of Premier League soccer matches

Streaming audio provider TuneIn announced a new partnership with British sports radio company Talk Sport that will allow premium subscribers to stream hundreds of audio simulcasts of Premier League soccer matches this year.

The partnership was announced in a press release Tuesday that said all 380 matches from the 2022-2023 Premier League season will be available to TuneIn Premium customers, starting this month.

“The Premier League is one of the most viewed, most listened to, and most loved sports leagues in the world,” Richard Stern, the chief executive of TuneIn, said in a statement. “As the premier go-to destination for sports fans around the world, TuneIn is thrilled to be able to bring Talk Sport’s incredible sports coverage of every Premier League match to our Premium Users across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.”

While TuneIn is available in more than 100 countries, the Premier League soccer matches will be limited to streamers in North America. Coverage will include live and on-demand access to commentary from each match along with event previews and post-match analysis, TuneIn said.

As part of the partnership, TuneIn will launch individual streams for all 20 Premier League clubs, which will allow fans to follow the progression of individual teams from the start of the season through the end.

“Premier League fans want to catch every minute of match coverage and our partnership with TuneIn gives them access to live audio commentary of every Premier League match wherever they are, no matter what they are doing,” Will Morley, the head of audio partnerships at Talk Sport, said on Tuesday.

While live sports has commanded an outsized interest in the streaming video industry, broadcast rights are equally important in the streaming radio space — and TuneIn has competed with the best of them to secure live audio simulcasts of major sporting events in recent years.

Currently, TuneIn Premium customers have access to live and on-demand replays of games from Major League Baseball, the National Football League, the National Hockey League, NASCAR, IndyCar, college football and college basketball.

TuneIn Premium costs $10 a month or $100 a year. Users can sign up for a free trial of TuneIn Premium via the TuneIn website or within the TuneIn app on some supported platforms.

In addition to live sports, TuneIn Premium offers access to audio simulcasts of CNN, the Fox News Channel, MSNBC, Fox News Radio, Al Jazeera and other news channels as well as several curated commercial-free music streams.

Users of TuneIn’s premium and free tier are able to choose from over 100,000 third-party radio streams and podcasts broadcasting around the world, with support for a wide variety of devices and platforms, including many popular smartphones, tablets, game consoles, streaming TV hardware, smart speakers and car radios.
